Amy Rhodes is a writer and performer living in Los Angeles. Currently, she is the Director of Content, and a writer/producer, for the comedy website FunnyOrDie.com. Amy recently created and developed a sitcom pilot, "Stalled," for the Oxygen Network, based on a two-woman show of the same name, which she co-wrote and performed in at The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatres in New York and Los Angeles. At UCB Los Angeles Amy wrote and directed the play "Three Compañeros," a parody of the sitcom "Three’s Company," which replaces roommates Jack, Janet and Chrissy with actors portraying Lance Armstrong, Jake Gyllenhaal and Matthew McConaughey. The show was listed as one of the Top Five Things To Do In LA by LA.com and was recommended by LA City Beat, Defamer and LAist.com. Amy has also written and performed in two solo shows: "I Enjoy Being a Girl," recipient of the Emerging Comics of New York Award for Best Solo Show and "Growing Up Amy," recipient of Time Out New York Critic’s Pick for Comedy. With writer/director Eric Pliner, Amy co-created and performed in the long-running New York City downtown cult hit "Spooky Dog & The Teen-Age Gang Mysteries." A parody of the popular children’s cartoon "The Scooby Doo Mysteries," the show was the winner of the 1999 New York Fringe Festival Award for Outstanding Ensemble Performance and was named Best of New York Theater in 2000 by both Backstage and Paper magazines. In 2007, Samuel French, Inc. picked up the play for publication and distribution. Amy has appeared on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" and "Last Call With Carson Daly." She is an improv teacher at The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, where she also regularly performs. Fun fact! In high school, Amy was a mime. |
